Public ad transparency database
What Is Meta Ads Library
The Meta Ads Library is a searchable, publicly-accessible database hosted by Meta Platforms that stores advertisements running across Meta’s platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network). It was developed to increase transparency around advertising, especially political, social-issue and election ads, by providing users with insight into who is advertising what, where and when.
Core Capabilities
The Meta Ads Library allows users to search for ads by keyword, advertiser, country, media type and more. It displays ad creatives (images/videos), ad copy, run dates and whether the ad is active. For ads relating to politics, elections or social issues, the library also shows additional details such as funding sources, spend ranges and targeting demographics. While it doesn’t expose full performance metrics like click-through rate or conversions for commercial ads, it offers a powerful lens into the advertising behaviour and strategy of brands and organisations across Meta’s ecosystem.
